Healthcare review platform Doctify analysed hundreds of thousands of verified patient reviews over the past three years to uncover the most frequently expressed concerns.
For ophthalmology, long wait times for cataract surgery, glaucoma treatments and laser eye correction; post-surgery aftercare, and prescription errors were the top three concerns for ophthalmology.
Stephanie Eltz, CEO and co-founder of Doctify, said that while most patient reviews were positive, some highlighted areas for improvement, especially around around long wait times for cataract surgery, glaucoma treatments, and laser eye correction.
'The uncertainty about when they would receive care caused frustration, especially for those experiencing worsening vision. Post-surgery aftercare was another common issue, and many patients felt unprepared for recovery, particularly regarding eye drops, potential complications, and follow-up appointments. Prescription errors for glasses and contact lenses also led to dissatisfaction, making some question the accuracy of their assessments. Clearer communication, better scheduling, and structured aftercare could further enhance patient trust and satisfaction,’ she said.
