There will be no increase in the sight test fee for the coming financial year and the sector is likely to come under renewed pressure from Department of Health negotiators for reductions in spending next year.
Optician understands there was pressure for a reduction in the GOS sight examination fee in the latest round of negotiations and expects more pressure on costs in next year’s round.
The Optical Fees Negotiating Committee is understood to have secured a freeze in the main sight exam fees. Details of other allowances and values are expected soon.
