Domiciliary restarts in NI

Northern Ireland’s Health and Social Care Board has announce the commencement of Phase 3a

Northern Ireland’s Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) has written to all Northern Irish GOS service contractors to announce the commencement of Phase 3a of the board’s plan to reestablish ophthalmic services.

Raymond Curran, head of ophthalmic services at HSCB, explained that Phase 3a permits the delivery of domiciliary eye care by those contractors registered to provide the service.

Domiciliary care has been permitted in a patient’s own home since September 1, but domiciliary services for nursing and residential care homes, day centres or hospital in-patient settings is still restricted.

The HSCB has noted that a further review of fuller domiciliary eye care provision is anticipated in the coming weeks.
