Research carried out on behalf of the International Glaucoma Association (IGA) has suggested that millions of drivers aged over 40 years old are unaware of the risks of developing glaucoma.
The survey of over 1,000 drivers over the age of 40 found that 52 per cent did not know that glaucoma affects peripheral vision, despite the fact that 96 per cent recognised that glaucoma was an eye disease.
The survey also found that 30 per cent of drivers aged 40-54 - the age when most vulnerable to developing glaucoma - were failing to take an eye test every two years.
