DVLA to update eye conditions list

An updated list of notifiable conditions for drivers will soon be published by the Driving Vehicle and Licensing Agency (DVLA). 

The Association of Optometrists (AOP) said the DVLA confirmed a new list would be made available after concerns were raised about a list so extensive it could apply to most drivers.  

Adam Sampson, chief executive at the AOP, said: ‘The extent of the original list really would have been problematic for so many, so we’re incredibly pleased to see that the DVLA have listened to the advice of the sector. The move is sure to remove an unnecessary administrative burden for practitioners but also alleviate worry for many patients.’
