DX Group has launched a new outbound delivery service for opticians based on a network of drop off points around the UK.
DX Optical Exchange utilises the group's existing network of 4,500 drop off points currently used for its legal document service. The points have been equipped with blue post bins into which opticians can place frames for glazing or returns to optical manufacturers. If placed in the bin by 5pm they will be delivered the next day.
Chris Tayler, key account manager for the optical sector, said the service offered optical practices the opportunity to reduce delivery costs in the light of recent increases by the Royal Mail. He said opticians had wanted DX to provide an outbound service for some time but this had not been cost effective for users posting small volumes.
