Nearly 130 crimes citing eBay are reported in London every month, said the report in its February 25 edition, and although the PayPal system of payment is applauded, the article claims that criminals are turning to low-risk crime, 'such as eBay', where many customers allow their credit card and bank account details to be given to strangers.

In the week before the GOC was due to face the company in court over the sale of contact lenses the magazine's editor urged eBay to stop selling the medical items, calling it a '21st century car boot sale'.
