Plans for the accreditation of online contact lens retailers were proposed last week at the European Contact Lens Forum (ECLF) conference in Amsterdam - held to discuss alternative CL distribution channels.
ECLF invited Iris van Der Heijden, a legal representative from the Health on the Net Foundation (HON), to explain what its HON code of conduct entailed and how it could benefit CL internet retailers and manufacturers.
'In a European market with a wide spectrum of regulated and unregulated distribution, the fast way forward is to work on voluntary ways to ensure consumer safety,' said the ECLF on its reasons for considering third-party accreditation.
