ECPs support Edinburgh’s homeless at Christmas

Specsavers staff in Edinburgh provided free eye care to people experiencing homelessness at a Crisis at Christmas clinic on December 16.

Michael O’Kane, clinical director at Specsavers Cameron Toll and Morningside, said: ‘For people facing homelessness here in Edinburgh and across the UK, accessing this basic yet life-changing care is often fraught with barriers—whether due to cost, social reasons, lack of documentation, or access to facilities.’

He added that volunteering helped break down these obstacles and called on fellow eye care professionals to offer their time and make a difference this Christmas.

The project was part of Specsavers’ nationwide initiative to improve access to eye care for homeless people, which included partnering with Vision Care for Homeless People, Big Issue and other homelessness services.
