Essilor reveals growth

Essilor International delivered a 9.3 per cent rise in revenue for the nine months to September 30, excluding the currency effect of -2.6 per cent.

Consolidated revenue for the nine months was €3,099m, up 6.7 per cent on the same period in 2010, with results for Europe up 4 per cent, or 1.2 per cent on a like-for-like basis at €1,089m.

Taking the third-quarter revenue alone, Essilor reported a 4.4 per cent like-for-like increase at €1,039m, despite 'a more uncertain business environment'. Its lens and optical instruments businesses continued to improve, with equipment delivering a strong performance thanks to demand for digital surfacing machines.
