Essilor sets up €30 million programme to combat poor vision

Essilor has established the Vision For Life programme which its describes as being dedicated to eliminating poor vision and improve lives by improving sight.

Essilor  has established the Vision For Life programme which its describes as being dedicated to eliminating poor vision and improve lives by improving sight.

The Group has committed  €30 million to the project making it the largest global strategic giving initiative dedicated to eliminating Uncorrected Refractive Error. URE, simply poor vision, is the most common disability in the world affecting 2.5 billion people  who do not have vision correction.

Essilor claimed that this has significant social and economic repercussions and costs the world over Euro– the latter calculated  to be worth as much as $272 billion (€312bn) in lost global productivity each year.
