Lens manufacturer Essilor plans to reorganise production facilities at its site in Thornbury, Bristol.

Essilor said it anticipated a reduction of approximately 30 positions from a staff of 440 as it seeks to 'optimise manufacturing capacity and improve overall cost efficiency within the business'.

The company added that the loss of staff would be achieved through voluntary methods and early retirement where possible.

Essilor's managing director, Marc Tersigni commented: 'Whilst we regret having to make these changes, we remain fully committed to local manufacturing and investment in the UK.'
