Dr Peter Byloos, Optegra CEO

EssilorLuxottica has reached an agreement with MidEuropa to acquire ophthalmology services provider Optegra, which the eyewear and lens giant said represented a milestone in its med-tech strategy.

Francesco Milleri, chair and CEO, and Paul du Saillant, deputy CEO at EssilorLuxottica, said: ‘With the acquisition of Optegra, we are stepping into a new frontier – one where comprehensive eye care, advanced diagnostics, therapeutic interventions and surgical treatments come together in one seamless platform.’

The Optegra group, which included the Optegra, Lexum and Iris brands, operated 70 eye hospitals and diagnostic facilities in the UK, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and the Netherlands.

Dr Peter Byloos, CEO at Optegra Eye Health Care, added that joining forces with EssilorLuxottica marked a transformative chapter for Optegra.
