
EssilorLuxottica has acquired a 5.1% stake in Nikon Corp, investing 170€mn into the Japanese camera manufacturer as of early October, Reuters reported.
This move has come during a significant period of growth for the Japanese camera manufacturer, having experienced a 29.85% increase over the past five years, Digital Camera World found.
According to Reuters, the stake was intended as a long-term financial investment to support the company and its management.
The investment has strengthened the two companies’ partnership, following their joint launch of Nikon-Essilor in 2000, a Tokyo-based wholesale lens business entity serving regional and global customers.
