Legal proceedings have been initiated by EssilorLuxottica in order to obtain information about how GrandVision has managed its business during the pandemic.
EssilorLuxottica explained that it also wanted to assess the extent to which GrandVision has breached its obligations under the support agreement.
It said that despite repeated requests GrandVision has not provided this information on a voluntary basis, which left no other option but to resort to legal proceedings.
An investigation into the proposed acquisition of GrandVision by EssilorLuxottica was launched by the European Commission in February to address competition concerns.
