EssilorLuxottica’s short-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), marking a milestone in the company’s environmental efforts.
The new 2030 targets addressed emissions across the business’ Scope 1, 2 and 3, in line with the climate change mitigation efforts set out in the 2015 Paris agreement.
The company committed to deliver a 42% reduction of absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, from a 2022 base year, and a 25% reduction of absolute Scope 3 emissions.
Francesco Milleri, chairman and CEO, and Paul du Saillant, deputy CEO at EssilorLuxottica, said: ‘Our science-aligned climate targets reinforce our commitment to leading the industry toward an equitable and sustainable future. We will continue prioritising climate actions within our sphere of influence and engage all our stakeholders.’
