Data from 31 European countries has shown a 1.7 per cent year-on-year increase in the value of the soft contact lens market to ECPs.
The statistics for 2012, published by Euromcontact, valued the market at €1,396m, but also showed that the market in 11 major European countries fell by 0.7 per cent and was now worth €1,143m.
Sweden, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg, Norway and the Netherlands all showed year-on-year growth for 2011 to 2012, but values fell in Italy, the UK and Ireland, France, Spain, Switzerland and Denmark.
The care product market shrank by 5.5 per cent to €229m across all 31 countries and a 7.7 per cent decline was reported in the main 11 countries. The value of multipurpose solutions in these territories fell by 5.6 per cent.
