European optical lobbyists have combined efforts to call on MEPs to prioritise better vision and eye health across the continent.
This week, the European Coalition for Vision and its manifesto for the European Parliament elections were launched at the European Parliament seat in Strasbourg.
The manifesto called on the European Parliament to use its significant powers to affect change. Peter Ackland, chief executive officer of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, said: ‘Brussels can do a better job when it comes to encouraging European Union Member States to prioritise vision and eye health within their health strategies – an area largely neglected by most European governments.’
