Patients who experience visual discomfort when watching 3D films may benefit from eye exercises.
In a presentation at this year's American Academy of Optometry meeting in San Francisco last week, Dr Dominick Maino of Chicago described how convergence and accommodation exercises had alleviated some of the symptoms of nausea, headache and blur experienced by susceptible patients.
Dr Maino has coined the term '3D vision syndrome' to describe the experience of convergence insufficiency, accommodative instability and diplopia along with the systemic symptoms. 'The best part is that the effect of vision therapy permanently remained without any additional treatment sessions,' he explained.
Optician will be looking at 3D perception in the New Year.
