A rallying call has been made for the whole of optics to ‘get its act together’ ahead of this autumn’s National Eye Health Week (NEHW).
Dates for the annual national awareness event have been set for September 24-30, 2018.
Support has been secured from optical bodies, charities and independents. More investment was required, but without the impact of NEHW being diluted by any dominant commercial message, NEHW chairman David Cartwright told Optician.
He said: ‘Everyone should be putting a small amount forward to make this happen. For a relatively small amount of money the optical industry should be getting its act together.’
Last year’s campaigning included leaflets and information packs for practitioners, a one-off consumer magazine, a column in The Beano comic, Royal Mail franking and television adverts.
