Eyecare 3000 agrees CET deal with Boots

Scottish conference Eyecare 3000 and Boots Opticians have entered into an agreement to provide CET to Boots' optometry staff in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

It follows the announcement that the Eyecare 3000 conference will expand into two venues when it is held in January next year, at its traditional Glasgow venue, and in Belfast for the first time.
Boots' professional programme manager Jim Farrell said: 'Under the agreement a set number of our practitioners will have direct access to Eyecare 3000 conferences, which is an ideal way to deliver high quality CET to our practitioners in Scotland and Northern Ireland.'
Dr Scott Mackie, course organiser of Eyecare 3000, said: 'Boots Opticians has a formidable record of achievement in the PQE exams and now wishes to retain this high standard of its staff by using Eyecare 3000, which it views as a trainer of excellence.'
Following on from the success of its recent 'Myopia' conference in Nottingham, Boots Opticians is now planning to run a second themed event later this year. Under the title of 'Managing the over-55s', this will be held in London on November 14, with plans for these events to continue at six-monthly intervals at major venues throughout the UK.
In another development, Eyecare 3000 and the Scottish Contact Lens Society are to merge their conferences with immediate effect. SCLS committee chairman said that a learning day under the banner of the SCLS at Eyecare 3000 would be mutually beneficial.
Mackie added that the events were close to each other and it made logistical sense for delegates and exhibitors to be at one expanded course. 'However, the identity of the SCLS will remain.'
The next Eyecare 3000 courses are January 8-10 at the Belfast Hilton and January 22-24 at the Glasgow Marriott including a Scottish and Irish Opto-Fare, an exhibition-only day.
