The Eyecare Trust is calling on practices to get involved in this year's National Eye Week, September 11-17.
Healthy Eyes, Healthy You is the theme of the week and the Trust aims to build awareness about how poor diets, lack of exercise, excessive alcohol and obesity could be to blame for an increase in vision problems among the UK population.
Results from two surveys conducted by the Trust and healthcare cash plan provider Healthsure have revealed that high numbers are unaware about the importance of a healthy lifestyle for preserving vision and that more people would rather spend money on fashion accessories than eye care and spectacles.
