Derby dispensing optician Sarah Bonting (left) has scooped a gem of a prize after she was named as the winner of Eyespace’s Optrafair diamond prize draw.
Bonting was one of hundreds on the supplier’s stand who sipped on glasses of Prosecco that concealed one real diamond among hundreds of fakes. Visitors were asked to place their stones into the safe to be sent off and graded after the show.
Bonting, who has worked at Oakwood Eyecare for 22 years said: ‘I was completely overwhelmed when Catherine Bartlett (right), my regional sales manager appeared in practice to tell me I had won the diamond.
‘In my personal life I had been going through a few difficulties, but this put a smile back on my face. To top it off, it’s my 20th wedding anniversary in August and my husband always promised me a beautiful diamond ring when we reached 20 years. Now I have a beautiful diamond and I am in the process of designing a ring for it to be mounted into.’
