The family of 17-year-old Keira Dixon, from Sible Hedingham, are hoping to raise thousands for cancer charity CLIC Sargent as she recovers from a brain tumour first spotted in an optical practice.

Their campaign in being backed by opticians Wardale Williams, which conducted the eye examination last year at its Halstead practice before referring her to a local hospital where she underwent lifesaving surgery.

Referring optometrist Greg Hybel said: ‘I am so very pleased that Kiera is making such tremendous progress. It was a joy to see her looking so well at her recent routine eye examination. I believe the moral here is the undeniable importance for everyone to attend for regular eye examinations.’
