Fight for Sight has launched a UK Vision Research Network to tackle some of the major challenges in vision research through innovation and collaboration.
A doctoral training programme, open for applications until July 23, was announced as the first step to enable students to learn from supervisors from different institutions and disciplines.
Retinal degeneration, including age-related macular degeneration and inherited retinal diseases, would be the initial programme focus with the aim to introduce other themes in the future.
Eleanor Southwood, director of Impact and External Affairs at Fight for Sight, said: ‘It is hoped that the programme will help to emphasise the importance of cross-institutional and cross-discipline collaboration in academic research.’
