The College of Optometrists and the General Optical Council have joined forces to deliver a series of presentations to first-year students at each university offering a degree course in optometry.
The student roadshows, which started last week, offer new optometry students an insight into the profession, to highlight the role of the GOC and requirements for registration and to raise awareness of the College and the variety of benefits available to its student associate members. The GOC is also visiting institutions offering dispensing optics courses.
The roadshows, which aim to build on the success of a similar series of presentations delivered to students over the past two years, also offer new students an opportunity to quiz representatives from the GOC and the College, including staff and practising optometrists from a variety of backgrounds.
