David Thomas Contact Lenses recently presented the School of Optometry at Cardiff University with 12 Ledaperm gas-permeable contact lens fitting sets for use in the clinical teaching rooms.
William Thomas, managing director of DTCL, who presented the trial sets to senior lecturer and clinic director Dr Tom Margrain, was given a tour of the new purpose-built building. He added that he was extremely impressed by the resources now available to students and postgraduate researchers.
'DCTL has always supported the teaching establishments and the 12 Ledaperm gas-permeable fitting sets should enable the students to gain experience in fitting GP lenses,' he added.
Contact lens lecturer Dr Christine Purslow said: 'The school is extremely pleased to receive this support from DCTL: teaching students about gas permeable lens fitting is much enhanced through the use of fitting sets, and it is through initiatives like this one that we aim to encourage our optometrists in training to continue to fit GP lenses, which after all, are still one of the best options for many patients.'
