Alcon continues its partnership with flying eye hospital Orbis

Alcon has continued its partnership with Orbis, an international charity founded in 1982 that runs a flying eye hospital across the developing world.

The eye care company has provided Orbis’s new third generation aeroplane, which serves as a mobile base for eye surgery and training local medical professionals, with surgical equipment and sponsored the onboard classroom.

‘Alcon has been a partner of Orbis from the very beginning and, over the last 30 years, has helped us train thousands of medical professionals across the world through their generous donation of state-of-the-art equipment,’ said Rebecca Cronin, CEO at Orbis UK.

The plane made a recent promotional trip to the UK, staying at Stansted Airport from March 11-17, and will visit Vietnam, Cameroon and Bangladesh in 2017. A full report on the plane’s visit to the UK will feature in an upcoming issue of Optician.
