FMO looks to exports to boost revenue

Fully exploiting export growth and a new apprenticeship in manufacturing optics were the main topics for discussion at the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians (FMO) autumn meeting last week.

UKTI International trade adviser Dr Tony Warwick (pictured right with FMO chairman Malcolm Polley) explained how FMO members could use grants that help UK companies export and how the UKTI, with its 2,400 staff around the world, could support them.

Warwick said companies were often keen to reduce reliance on the UK market and could increase competitiveness by adapting to markets abroad, as products reaching the end of competitive life in the UK frequently found new customer bases abroad.
