FODO appoints AOP's Grocott as president

Don Grocott, president of the AOP, has also been appointed as the new president of the Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians (FODO).

The move comes at a time when FODO and the AOP have given their commitment to explore the formation of an optical confederation.

However, FODO's chief executive, David Hewletttold Optician that Grocott's appointment did not signal the merger of the twobodies.

As reported in Optician, (News, May 9 2008), in a proposal outlined at FODO's AGM last year, chairman Paul Carroll called for a closer working relationship between the optical bodies on the model of the Eye Health Alliance, which he added could lead to the creation of a Confederation of British Optics.
