Fodo backs Alzheimer’s Society dementia initiative

Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians (Fodo) staff have signed up to be Dementia Friends to create dementia-friendly communities.

The initiative is run by the Alzheimer’s Society and backed by the government with the intention of making the UK the best country in the world for dementia care by 2020. Fodo chief executive David Hewlett is a trained ‘Dementia Champion’ and recently facilitated a dementia awareness session at Fodo headquarters.

Hewlett said: ‘It is important to find out how people with dementia and their carers can be better supported to live full and active lives in the community and have access to the eye care and hearing care they need.’
