In a somewhat unlikely collaboration, luxury eyewear brand Leisure Society has teamed up with former England footballer Daniel Sturridge to create a limited-edition sunglass style.
Leisure Society founder and designer Shane Baum said he first took an interest in Sturridge’s career in 2014 when the footballer was pictured on Instagram wearing the brand’s frames. Baum messaged Sturridge to say thank you and said they have been friends ever since.
‘I’m really excited to be working with Leisure Society,’ said Sturridge. ‘They are a brand I have been a fan of for a long time so to help design this range has been an amazing experience that I’ve really enjoyed.
‘It has been many months in the making with intricate planning going into the design of the frames and lenses, which has been a great creative process from start to finish.’
The limited edition semi-rimless Solana sunglass is constructed from pure titanium and ion-plated in gold. Lenses have been dip-dyed by hand and feature a gold-filled etching of the footballer’s initials, with three colour options available. Each frame comes in a genuine leather Daniel Sturridge x Leisure Society case and includes an individually numbered certificate of authenticity.
