A project on consumer trends and new technology that will impact optical practices has entered its final stages.
Alan Tinger, chairman of Locsu, told guests at the FMO annual general meeting last week that findings from the Foresight Project would be released early in the New Year.
In a presentation entitled Foresight Project – The Future of the Optical Sector, Tinger said the profession must be switched on to new handheld and internet technology.
‘Historically, the sector has spent a lot of time and energy looking backwards to past good times and bemoaning the present day,’ Tinger said. ‘Meanwhile, the world has globalised and consumer behaviour has reacted to technology in all aspects of life.’
