Bausch & Lomb is encouraging practitioners to attend free seminars to learn how they can gain from law changes for supplementary prescribing.

The series of regional CET seminars, organised by B&L as part of its commitment to education, will cover the new prescribing guidelines for optometrists offered to clinical members of optometric practices.

Since July last year optometrists have been permitted to train to act as supplementary prescribers and to use Level 2 exemptions.
Speakers at the events include Professor Roger Buckley, Moorfields consultant ophthalmologist Alex Ionides and Queens Medical Centre consultant ophthalmologist Professor Harminder Dua.

Buckley told Optician: 'I'll be discussing the topic of optometrists prescribing, bringing delegates up to date on the regulation and education required and how practitioners can gain from the changes.'

The evening seminars, which consist of two 60-minute lectures, a hot buffet and a Q&A session, will next take place on Monday February 20 in London and Wednesday February 22 in Cambridgeshire (see Diary Dates, page 6).
