Spectacles made for Mohandas Gandhi in the UK have been put up for auction. The spectacles, shown to be made at H Cannam Opticians in Gloucester, will be auctioned along with other Gandhi memorabilia from 1pm on Tuesday April 17 at Ludlow Racecourse banqueting suite.

Mullock's Auctioneers have estimated a £10,000 starting price on the frames and international bidders were expected. Specialist Richard Westwood-Brookes said: 'It is an enormous amount of money to spend on a pair of glasses but they are as iconic as Churchill's cigar.
