A global awareness initiative about glaucoma has been launched by the World Glaucoma Association during World Glaucoma Week (March 7-13).
Its “The world is Bright, save your sight” campaign highlighted that damage due to glaucoma could be prevented and that eye examinations were key to early diagnosis.
Ivan Goldberg, co-founder of World Glaucoma Week, said: ‘To be effective, community awareness projects need to be relevant. That means they need to be based locally and thus rely on individuals in each place to be involved actively, adopting the unifying message into local culture.’
Resources have been made available and activities detailed on the World Glaucoma Week website in order to help spread its message.
