The joint group on the NICE glaucoma guideline held its first meeting on September 15 to work towards producing final joint professional guidance.

The joint group on the NICE glaucoma guideline held its first meeting on September 15 to work towards producing final joint professional guidance.

Comprised of representatives from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, College of Optometrists, Association of Optometrists and the Federation of Opthalmic and Dispensing Opticians, the group also featured an observer from the Department of Health for England.

The aim of the group is to produce supplementary professional guidance about glaucoma case finding in the light of the NICE guidelines. It will meet again at the beginning of November when it is planned to reach agreement on the first early phase of its recommended guidance.
