An ophthalmic guideline on glaucoma will be produced by the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN), reported the International Glaucoma Association (IGA).
SIGN guidelines have already been developed for healthcare professionals including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
David Wright, chief executive of the IGA, said: 'The IGA are delighted that SIGN has decided to tackle glaucoma as its first ophthalmic guideline and we look forward to making a real patient based contribution to the process.
'Here at the IGA, we want all people with or at risk of glaucoma to have the knowledge and access to care that will enable them to maintain a good quality of life.'
