Cat allergens have been associated with a higher risk of developing glaucoma in latest research from the US.

A study to evaluate the association between sensitivities to indoor allergens and glaucoma, published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology this month, found decreased odds of the condition associated with dog allergens though.

Findings were based on the 2005-2006 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), including millions of interviews, physical examination and blood draws, which was analysed by researchers at the University of California.
