The plea was made by Professor Brien Holden, chief executive officer of the Institute for Eye Research, during his a lecture for the Delta Gamma Foundation on healthcare values and ethics at the University of Houston.

Focusing on the opportunities, responsibilities and challenges facing the world from a healthcare perspective, Professor Holden outlined a detailed plan of eye care action that he claimed would restore sight to hundreds of millions around the world.
