Optometrists Richard Greenwood and Kalpana Theophilus joined the General Optical Council’s Investigation Committee (IC) earlier this month.
The IC sits alongside the GOC’s case examiners and considers cases either when a health or performance assessment is required, or if the GOC’s case examiners cannot agree on a decision.
Greenwood, an optometrist practising in a large multiple leading a team of clinicians, had experience developing pre-registration optometrists within distance learning, tutorial and workshop settings and was Boots’ optician of the year for 2013, the GOC stated.
Theophilus has over 27 years’ experience as an optometrist in both high street practices and laser clinics, and is engaged with the pre-registration optometrist programme as a supervisor, assessor and OSCE examiner.
