GOC appoints new chief executive

Vicky McDermott to take up the position in September

A replacement for outgoing General Optical Council chief executive and registrar Samantha Peters has been appointed by the regulator.

Vicky McDermott, the former chief executive officer of the Papworth Trust, will take up the position in September.

McDermott served three years as CEO of disability charity, the Papworth Trust. There she was responsible for leading an organisation of over 600 staff with a broad portfolio across accessible housing, social care, disability employment and policy.

She has also worked for the NHS Business Services Authority, where she led the transformation of the NHS Pension scheme and advised Government Ministers on a range of issues.
