GOC approves optometry course

The University of Huddersfield’s undergraduate optometry programme will go on

The University of Huddersfield’s undergraduate optometry programme has been fully approved by the General Optical Council prior to the first cohort of students starting their studies.

Successful students on the course could progress onto the College of Optometrists’ Scheme for Registration and then a career in optometry.

The University of Huddersfield said students could go onto work in corporate optometry, in private independent practice or hospital optometry.

Students will be able to gain experience while under the supervision of optometrists in the university’s on-campus eye clinic supported by Valli Opticians.
