A successful first cycle of statutory CET and an increase in student retentions from 25 per cent to 42 per cent ahead of the July 15 deadline contributed to a successful GOC members seminar at Chandos House, London, this week (June 28).
Members received updates on the White Paper working groups and progress within the Department of Health where they were asked to endorse the proposal for fitness to practise (FTP) hearings to be moved to an independent adjudication body.
The GOC has already created a separate hearings panel to protect registrants' human rights and in the longer term it said shared adjudication should mean more consistent FTP decisions across the healthcare professions.
