GOC erases jailed brothers

The erased members seriously assaulted a man in Leicester in 2016.

In two separate cases, the GOC has erased brothers Shamir and Taseer Kazi from its registers. Both brothers were student dispensing opticians – Taseer based in Staffordshire and Shamir studied in Leicester.

A GOC Fitness to Practise Committee found Shamir’s fitness to practise impaired because of his conviction for causing grievous bodily harm with intent. A separate committee found Taseer’s fitness to practise impaired by his convictions for possession of a bladed weapon and illegal drugs, in addition to his conviction for causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Alongside a third brother, Taqueer Kazi, the erased members seriously assaulted a man in Leicester in 2016, leaving the victim with multiple skull fractures and a bleed on the brain. The assaulted man was not the intended victim and spent eight weeks in the hospital recovering from the attack.
