
A Liverpool-based optometrist has been erased from the General Optical Council’s (GOC) register with immediate effect after a fitness to practise hearing.
A committee found Rajendra Chopra’s fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct in relation to his failure to carry out an adequate sight test and make an appropriate referral.
It said that Chopra’s actions were inappropriate, misleading and dishonest in that he knew that he had not conducted a sight test on a patient in September 2017.
Chopra also retrospectively wrote over the top of his records for appointments with the same patient and obscured them after he learnt the patient had made a complaint to the GOC.
