GOC erases Wembley OO from register

A GOC Committee has erased Wembley-based optometrist Ibrar Ahmed from the register after finding his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct.

The erasure was in relation to Ahmed's sexually inappropriate behaviour, including making suggestive comments plus kissing and touching over clothing, towards a patient and colleagues on different occasions between 2020 and 2021.

A similar pattern of alleged sexual misconduct carried out against each complainant was observed by the Committee along with notable inconsistencies in the registrant’s evidence.

Erasure was determined to be the only proportionate sanction in order to protect the public and fellow members of the profession while upholding standards and the reputation of the Council.
