A recruitment drive for up 50 individuals to sit on General Optical Council statutory committees has been launched.
Positions on the committees are open to optometrists, dispensing opticians, ophthalmologists and lay people. The move is as a result of reforms to all UK healthcare regulatory bodies, requiring them to allow committees to play a crucial role in providing advice and assistance.
The Council is inviting applicants for the following five committees: standards committee education committee registration committee investigation committee and companies committee.
Appointments are for a period of up to four years and appointed members will be offered a daily fee, plus expenses. It is anticipated that members will work up to three days per month on committee work.
