The General Optical Council fitness to practise committee will hold a procedural hearing for a registered dispensing optician who was convicted of a sexual assault and jailed for over six years at Liverpool Crown Court in November 2006.
The inquiry will be based on the allegation submitted by the Council that Leo Martin Threlfall's fitness to practise is impaired because he was convicted upon indictment of two counts of sexual assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. As a result of these offences he was sentenced to imprisonment of six years and six months on December 20 2006.
In its hearing notice, the Council said: 'and by reason of the facts set out above, Mr Threlfall is guilty of misconduct'.
