GOC suspends Huddersfield optometrist

Husnal Murtza, a Huddersfield-based optometrist, has been suspended from the General Optical Council’s register for three months following allegations of misconduct.

The GOC’s Fitness to Practise Committee found his fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct after an investigation into the evidence he presented for his Stage 2 assessment while training as a student optometrist.

It was found Murtza had falsified contact lens fitting and contact lens aftercare records. Murtza then admitted that he had dishonestly presented incorrect records as
evidence.
